Signing Next Weekend at Cupboard Maker Mall Store

Hey folks. Isn’t this amazing? An actual event post delivered on time! Peschel press is right in the middle of the last two signing events of 2019, so I’ll tell you about what we did Saturday and what will be doing next Saturday.

We were at Cupboard Maker Books in Enola for two hours signing, next to Debra Kay Noye with her book “The Treasures in Great-Granny’s Scrapbook,” about life in Perry County. She said she had a really great response to her book and has sold most of her first printing.

The signing went well. People came in the shop for books despite the fact it was pouring down rain, and we did our usual thing of welcoming people to the bookstore, discussing our offerings, sharing fresh made butterscotch crunchies, and playing with the cats.

(For those of you new to the blog, Cupboard Maker Books is home to two bookstore cats, and temporary home to felines from Castaway Critters. One of the new boarders is a black-and-white kitty spotted like a pinto pony. He was so affectionate one of the customers picked him up and carried them around like a baby. I suspect he’ll be going off pretty soon to his forever home.)

After that, Teresa and I decided to head over to Colonial Park Mall where Michelle runs a pop-up store. The Payless shoe store had closed up shop and left behind its fixtures so she took the opportunity to do some test marketing, selling a wide variety of used books, and encouraging customers to visit the main store with its wider selection.

I didn’t expect was to see this:

Gorgeous. A clean, well-lighted place to sell books. The selection was limited because Michelle displayed the books by their covers.

So you could see fiction by James Patterson and J.D. Robb, Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg.

There were classic books as well.
