Who We Are

Peschel Press was founded in 2010 by Bill and Teresa Peschel in Hershey, Pa. As longtime readers, we’re dedicated to publishing “the history behind the mystery.” Whether it’s fiction or non-fiction, we’ll tell the whole story and provide a deeper, richer reading experience.
In 2019, the Press finished the Sherlock Holmes 223B Casebook series. We will also publish novels written by Bill and Teresa Peschel, and launch the Career Indie Author series. We also maintain an active schedule of public appearances in the Harrisburg, Pa., area, and at book festivals and craft shows in the mid-Atlantic. Click on the books below for more information, or see our future publishing plans.

NOW AVAILABLE!
“The Complete, Annotated Clouds of Witness” is the second book in the series that will republish all of the Lord Peter Wimsey novels and short stories. These will contain the complete text of the novels, footnotes identifying people, events, obscure words and cultural references. They will also contain the original maps, redrawn for clarity, and new maps and diagrams created exclusively for this edition. There will also be essays in the back going into greater detail with fascinating stories behind the stories.
NEW PROJECTS!
* We’re starting on “Jane Austen, She Watched.” In months to come, Teresa will watch and review Jane Austen movie and TV adaptations, movies starring or referencing Austen, and documentaries about her.
But before she gets into them, she’s watching movies set in Austen’s lifetime (1775-1817) to get an idea of the culture and history that she was immersed in. The book is not published yet, but we set up a page so you can follow her journey. We listed the movies she’s planning to watch. Every time we publish a FIRST DRAFT review, we’ll link to it. Here’s “Jane Austen, She Watched.”
* We’re also slowly moving into “Sherlock Holmes, They Watched.” Same structure as “Jane Austen,” but this will take a lot longer, because they’re so many adaptations. Here’s “Sherlock Holmes, They Watched.”
* We’re also watching the novel adaptations of Agatha Christie, and livestreaming our reactions to them every Thursday! Look for them on our YouTube channel. Here’s a list (with links) of all the episodes on our website.
“International Agatha Christie, She Watched!” Our latest release in print (hardback and softcover) and ebook! Teresa’s “Agatha Christie, She Watched” was a surprise best-seller for Peschel Press and nominated for an Anthony Award, so we immediately on the sequel covering movies and TV shows outside Great Britain and the United States.
Teresa reviewed 100 adaptations, including 18 covered in ACSW (some of them rewritten), from China, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Russia, Sweden, and Thailand, plus 11 documentaries, plus the recent UK/US adaptations “Murder Is Easy” and “A Haunting in Venice.”
As with “Agatha Christie, She Watched,” most reviews come with cast photos, a list of the major actors, and film locations. Each movie was rated for fidelity to the original material and its overall quality. Some shorter TV episodes were limited to one page with no cast photos.
Teresa also added extensive appendices: documentaries about Agatha; cast galleries of every Poirot and Miss Marple; adaptations of her works as movies, TV shows, radio shows, and board and video games; a master bibliography about Agatha; and portrayals of Agatha as a fictional character.
This beautiful coffee table book will open your eyes to the world of Agatha adaptations.
