“Ordeal by Innocence” coming to Amazon
Agatha Christie seems to be undergoing a mini-revival of sorts. Last year, we had Kenneth Branaugh’s all-star version of “Murder on the Orient Express” (in my top 2 of OE movies, vying neck-and-neck with David Suchet’s). We saw this in the theater, because that’s the best way to tell Hollywood to bring us more movies like that one. And it was worth it to see it all on the big screen. (We’ll do the same later this year when Branaugh’s follow-up “Death on the Nile” hits the big screen.)
In the meantime, Amazon is bringing to the U.S. the BBC’s “Ordeal by Innocence” in a three-part series. The trailer looks gorgeous.
The series stars Bill Nigy, who’s been one of my favorite actors since a zombie chomped on him in “Sean of the Dead.”
It’s already been broadcast in England, and Rotten Tomatoes’ critics score it at 86%, but Americans will have to wait until Aug. 10 to see it through Amazon.
