Our Small Business Saturday Signing at Cupboard Maker Books

We here at Peschel Press (that’s Bill and me) have done several book signings at Cupboard Maker Books, so naturally we showed up for the Small Business Saturday signing after Thanksgiving. From previous blogposts, you, dear reader, may have gathered that Michelle has not only 150,000 books in her store but she also has cats.

Several cats. Many, many cats, in fact, since Michelle fosters cats for Castaway Critters. Since she started, she’s helped find forever homes for hundreds of cats.

Two cats, however, have found their forever home at Cupboard Maker Books. They are Annika and Squeekie.

Annika is gorgeous, but very much her own cat. Her page at Cupboard Maker Books shows her looking her usual sweet self:

The other kitty is Squeekie. He adores people, he adores books, he adores his home in a bookstore, and to celebrate those facts, Squeekie is an author!

Here is Squeekie’s page with a very cute photo of him:

Squeekie doesn’t do his own writing, of course. Being a cat, keyboards are somewhat of a challenge and so he does what cats do best: He has his staff do the tedious writing for him while he lounges back and accepts the cheers and accolades from his fans. Squeekie has now written three books of his very own. He also has a pin-up calendar so your home need never be without a picture of him in all his catified glory. They are all available at Cupboard Maker Books and he autographs them for you with his very own pawprint.

What does this have to do with Peschel Press, you ask?

small business saturday signingWe came along with our books at the tag-end of Squeekie’s big book signing event on Small Business Saturday on 24 November 2018. Since we were not the star of the day (that would be Squeekie), we set up afterwards, when all the hoopla had died down. This gave us a chance to greet our star, and, oh yes, the other folks who were present.

You see, Squeekie was not alone in his efforts to properly launch his book. To assist him, many of his co-authors were there too. Each one of these sterling writers channeled Squeekie’s own voice and wrote up one of his many adventures as a bookstore cat.

They were – in no particular order — Jay Smith, Lynne Reeder, Natalie J. Damschroder, Heidi Hormel, Carrie Jacobs, Misty Simon, Brian Koscienski, Eric Hardenbrook, Andrew Grey, Elana A. Mugdan, Melissa Ford, and Victoria Smith.

These fine folks write their own books as well. They are all available through Cupboard Maker Books, if you want to take a look after you have said hello to Squeekie. Whatever your taste in literature, someone in this group has written for it so be sure to check them out.

We here at Peschel Press were able to bask in the glow radiated by the star, helping us to sell our books. It was a great day for us. We did really well too. You never know how well a flash signing will go, but Squeekie provided us with good luck. It’s his nature.

Thank you Squeekie and thanks to everyone at Cupboard Maker Books! We will be back.
